Electrical Source Estimation

GeoSource is a set of tools to model the neural sources of the brain’s electrical fields measured with the electroencephalogram (EEG) at the head surface.

Unlike first-generation source analysis packages, the goal for GeoSource is not one of basic science exploration, nor merely to prove that EEG sources can be characterized accurately. With the advances of 256-channel whole head EEG recordings, exact sensor position registration, and accurate conductivity models of head tissues, the accuracy of distributed source models can now be established within reasonable confidence limits. The goal of GeoSource, therefore, is to facilitate ease of use and thus efficient workflow.

New BESA^® Research 5.3 – now with direct interface to MATLAB^®

MEGIS Software GmbH announces the upcoming upgrade version of the BESA software. One highlight of the new release BESA Research 5.3 is a direct interface to the MATLAB program. Additional new features include CLARA, a new iterative 3D imaging method, and the calculation of intertrial phase locking.

The BESA software has earned a reputation as a user-friendly, highly interactive program for comprehensive EEG and MEG data analysis. While being widely known for high-end techniques of source analysis and source imaging, BESA Research is a powerful package that covers the whole range of EEG/MEG data processing steps.

EMSE EEG/MEG Software

An integrated solution for brain electromagnetic source estimation, this suite from Source Signal Imaging (San Diego) consists of six interrelated modules: the Data Editor, Source Estimator, Visualizer, MR Viewer, Image Processor, and Locator. The modules use a common set of files and interfaces to provide a uniform view of data and modeling results. They can also be purchased separately.

EMSE is not cleared for clinical use at this time. 

As a research tool, EMSE provides full access to the control parameters of the source estimation algorithms. Training is required to understand the use of these parameters and the errors of the algorithm settings that can produce invalid results.

BrainVoyager QX

BrainVoyager, by Brain Innovation, is an optimized and user-friendly MRI/fMRI analysis and display software package. The program runs on all major computer platforms including Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Brain Voyager offers the ability to unfold and flatten the brain to visualize the entire cortical surface, and supports a variety of fMRI formats. BrainVoyager can be linked to BESA to visualize multiple-dipole EEG/MEG models, and to seed putative dipole locations from fMRI scans.
